The Violinist

Another musician painting. Not sure what else to say about it except I was interested as much in the negative shapes as the figure itself.

I love the delicateness of the work and the way you captured the light on the white shirt and hair. The negative shapes add much to the painting. Wish I could paint people.

You've caught the expression of a child playing a violin so beautifully Marjorie. I wish I could look as confident when i play! Lovely gentle painting. r.

Jean thanks for kind words re the violinist. Was a real change to paint this.

Rahina That expression took ages to get just right and should still be working on it yet I think.

I know the feeling Marj, is a painting ever finished?? It's a difficult one. I have had to train myself to let go and on to the next one:)

Hi Marjorie, you have handled the negative shapes with great interest and success here. I have just visited Joan Breckwoldt's blog where she has done the same in some recent figurative paintings.
